You're just a human, a victim of the insane...

My favourite two Lennon solo albums were always John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (his first) and Double Fantasy (his last.) OK, maybe not saying a lot- seeing how there wasn't really a lot of solo input in between (unless you count the many loaves of home-made bread.) Anyway- that's not the point, really. This is one of my all-time favourite solo John songs, partly because it seems to show him at his most honest and vulnerable. One of the most popular and well-known men of his generation, he felt isolated and alone. And it's quite starkly illustrated in many of the songs on his first album. But here Maximo Park take the song and reinterpret it in a different style- sounding robotic, sounding Devo, sounding Magazine. And although I don't think it quite conveys the same feelings that are at the core of the original, I think it comes across as a quite enjoyable rendering... and all of it in barely over a minute.

Maximo Park- Isolation
